EPIC’S “Rock the Kasbah” really rocked!

Rock the Kasbah held on Saturday 22nd August at the RACV City Club was a memorable night in Morocco, great venue, great food and great entertainment.

On arrival, guests were welcomed by EPIC Graduates Katherine & Joshua and mingled to the sound of the Soul Divas Jazz Duet at Rick’s Café in Casablanca.

Both the Function Room and Entrance foyer looked fabulous thanks to the assistance from The Big Group who supplied and decorated the rooms with the Moroccan Theme. To add to this ambience the volunteer Committee and some guests also dressed in Middle Eastern outfits. A display of the history of this annual Fundraising event attracted much interest and guests sat in Rick’s Café by the piano for their photo memento.

A highlight of the evening was the colourful performances of the Womanjah Tribal Dance Troupe dancing with much exuberance to everyone’s enjoyment; their Sabre Dance truly captured everyone’s attention.

The EPIC Life Membership was presented to a very worthy recipient –Richard Holt, past parent and inspired regular Graphic Designer for EPIC’s events, who humbly received this award with much emotion. The “EPIC Journey” DVD was shown and new CEO, Val Spence, spoke of the exciting changes happening at EPIC.

There was an excellent selection of auction items for both the live & silent auctions and the bidding was vigorous and competitive with our auctioneer extracting great bids. The whole evening was full of fun and the guests danced to the “Kasbah Club” until after midnight.

The night would not have been possible without the help and support from many people and organisations –the financial support generously given, the donors who donated items for the live and silent auctions, our supporters for attending, plus the Compére Tony Tardio and Auctioneer Cameron Fisher who donated their services.

Thanks must also go to the volunteer Auction Committee who all worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure this would be a memorable night and a financial success.

EPIC’s JOURNEY CONTINUES

A wonderful evening held at Royal Melbourne Hotel, Bourke Street. The event was compered by Anthony Mithen, with panellists Roy Higgins MBE and Simon Marshall entertaining the guests with great stories from their ‘racing days’.

A lively auction was also held including Epic Journey’s first winning silks. The winning bidder has very kindly given this item to EPIC on loan. It will now be hung in the foyer at the EPIC Centre.

Team Corstens have most generously donated a 10% share in another horse, this time a colt. Guests had the opportunity to name the colt with the winning name being EPIC DRAGON.

Special thanks to Team Corstens and Royal Melbourne Hotel, Bourke Street Melbourne for sponsoring this event. We also thank Britprint and the auction donors.

THE EPIC CHARITY WALK AND TREASURE HUNT

The EPIC charity walk and treasure hunt was held on Sunday 15th March at Woodland Waters. What a wet weekend! However, the participants who all braved the weather thoroughly enjoyed the scenic walk at Woodland Waters.

Special thanks to Central Equity for their support and sponsorship of this event. We also thank Jalna and Provincial Meats for their support.
